And in today’s bland commercial Rap universe, Operation: Doomsday’s left-of-center beats and rhymes are the perfect remedy. Underneath his mysterious metal mask, MF DOOM hides the cachet underground. The comic-book themed skits, will help take you deep into the mind of an MC who is as other-worldly as they come. The long awaited reissue of Dooms first solo gem, Operation: Doomsday. Doom’s avant-garde ghetto-rhyme philosophies take even more intentionally weird twists on “Tick, Tick.” where he and guest MC MF Grimm’s flows warble over a rhythm track whose tempo speeds up and slows down continually. Who You Think I Am? features DOOM‘s crew M.onster I.sland C.zars, while on “?” he trades hot verses with former Columbia artist Kurious Jorge. On arguably the best track, “Rhymes Like Dimes,” Doom weaves some pointed lyrics through his abstract wordplay, spitting ‘only in America could you find away to earn a healthy buck / And still keep your attitude on self-destruct.’ Doom stencil took like three hours to cut, but it was absolutely worth it. It took longer than expected, but I wanted it to be absolutely perfect. Doom sounds either high or drunk on most of the tracks, his self-produced beats are gritty, and his rhyme styles are almost indecipherable. Made this sweater of a fictional jazz band, featuring MF DOOM, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. MF Doom, the British-born rapper has died at the age of 49, his family confirmed on social media. This 19-cut deep album is ridiculously dope, in a bizarro Ol’ Dirty Bastard kind of way. After KMD (his first group)’s 1994 sophomore album Bl_ck B_st_rds was shelved by Elektra in 1994 and his blood brother Subroc (one half of the sibling rap duo) passed away, surviving frontman Zev Love X mutated into the MC Avenger known as MF DOOM and the Rap world is better for it. It just doesn't make sense, especially since a pedestrian could well see more use than the tram line in peak hour. I hope that something is done aside from a pedestrian crossing. My father did go though, and said a lot of questions were answered but there were some that weren't. Unfortunately I didn't make that meeting, although I had hoped to. So fingers crossed they see the demand for the cycle path, and find some way to actually pull it off! They also talked about a project called Tramway Park which I'd never heard of. How do they do this without pushing the whole structure out of alignment? They need to build this thing, and keep the trams running. He gave a general overview of the project, and also told us that a bike path was under consideration - however he raised a LOT of really valid points about issues they are facing.įor example, the tram corridor is 20m wide. One of the DTEI guys was there to give some details. Yeah, being a keen cyclist (even though I only ride that particular crossing once or twice a year), I attended a meeting at Unley Council last week about the overpass. Here's the kicker: They recently just proposed that in order for cyclists to cross South Road, they're going to install a pedestrian crossing Clever bunch! "simont141" Here's the kicker: They recently just proposed that in order for cyclists to cross South Road, they're going to install a pedestrian crossing Clever bunch! Minimisation of interruptions to all traffic users, reduction of queue lengths at this intersection and increased safety for pedestrian users are some of the key objectives of the project. The South Road Upgrade – Glenelg Tram Overpass will accelerate the benefits to road users and the local community. The trams are expected to be operating on the new overpass in late 2009, to coincide with the South Road / Anzac Underpass opening for northbound and southbound traffic, with completion of the Underpass also scheduled for late 2009. The construction of the Glenelg Tram Overpass in the same timeframe as the South Road / Anzac Underpass will have the advantage of not disrupting the same community twice with major construction works. The South Road Upgrade/ Anzac Highway Underpass is the first step and construction of the Glenelg Tram Overpass is planned to be completed well within the Underpass timeframe to accommodate the changed traffic flow on South Road. In May 2005 the South Australia Office For Instrastructure Development announced that in mid-2007 construction would commence on an underpass to carry South Road traffic beneath the Anzac Highway at Ashford. In October 1966 a new bridge across the railway lines at Keswick was opened to traffic, replacing a level crossing. In April 1959 Rolf Jensen, Superintending Engineer (Planning) of the Highways Department expressed the need for grade separations at major intersections along Anzac Highway to cater for future traffic growth but nothing eventuated. In 1957 the intersection with South Road was reconstructed and the first vehicle-actuated traffic signals were installed to improve traffic flow. But a paradigm that must limit human freedom of thought in order to preserve its influence is not healthy, and in fact is dying, and needs to be honored and laid to rest. It is human nature to resist change and to fear loss of control and a loss of security. These are symptoms of a terminal illness in a paradigm that has already made its greatest contributions to the evolution of humanity, and is now too old and inflexible to adapt to the changing consciousness of the 21st century. The corruption, immorality and tyranny of the church that fueled the Reformation in the 16th century are now happening in institutionalized and commercialized science and medicine. Most Americans today believe that a scientist is free to pursue the truth as she or he sees it, free from any influence whatsoever. And of course, today it is not the church which threatens freedom of thought in science, it is the system that institutionalized science has become which stifles individual freedom and creativity. Their freedom to call it as they see it is again being curtailed their academic freedom is threatened. Now the free spirits in science are again having a hard time. It became well-established and institutionalized, and now has become entrenched and very powerful. This fresh, young, scientific paradigm represented by Galileo matured over the next few centuries. He stood for the inviolable right of the scientist to follow ones own conscience, free from outside pressure. Galileo was a pioneer fighting for the freedom to think about reality in a way that respected no outer authority but respected only the truth as he saw it. The birth of western science was also the birth of a freer and more individualized human thinking. Things were coming full circle, as our western paradigm, having shifted from spirit-based to matter-based, then shifted to energybased in the 20th century. To understand the deep inner reality of matter became the quest of science, eventually leading to the unsettling conclusion by modern physics that the basis of all matter was after all nonmaterial: energy. After Galileo, the physical matter of the universe assumed ever-growing importance for the mind, and for science. The human mind and senses gradually lost their capacity to experience spirit as a concrete reality. Then came a mighty paradigm shift, as western science was brought to birth by Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton. By the 1500s, the ancient spirit-centered ruling paradigm in Europe had become entrenched in the powerful authority of the church and had grown old and corrupt, no longer able to keep up with changing, evolving human consciousness. Paradigms are like living things which grow, reach maturity, and then become old, overripe, and prone to illness and decay. But all that changed because human consciousness is in constant evolution and the human heart and mind never stand still. The ruling paradigm shared by the peoples of the ancient world was god-centered and spirit-centered. If we could ask a welleducated citizen of ancient times what kind of knowledge should form the basis of an enlightened civilization, the answer most certainly would be, “Well, of course, knowledge of the gods and of their will.” The ruling paradigm of a culture determines the kind of knowledge on which governments are based, the kind of knowledge on which the education of children and the pursuit of science are based in short the kind of knowledge on which enlightened civilization is based. This new paradigm that is now struggling to be born challenges us to develop the courage and selflessness to master and change ourselves in order to survive. Because of this underlying fear, science and medicine assume that we must control and master Nature in order to survive. At a deep unconscious level-but just below the surface in medicine- we live today in a fear-based paradigm. Today our ruling scientific paradigm is based on fear of the world. In ancient times the ruling paradigm was based on love for the world. Most important in this inner mix of primal, basic feelings toward life and the world is whether love or fear rules. Primal feelings are shared by all human beings, each of us having our own particular mix depending on our individual constitution and experience and on the culture in which we live. This paradigm-lens is itself created and formed partly from our education and partly from the primal feelings living at the deepest levels of our heart and mind. It is our worldview it’s the lens through which we look at the world and it colors everything we see. Our paradigm incorporates all of our basic assumptions about the nature of reality. The word paradigm in present usage means the model constructed by our unconscious and conscious mind which we use to understand and explain the world. It gives the game a much more non-linear feeling than the previous titles as you can skip a gig if you want, though you won't know what the encore songs are going to be and may miss out on something that you really want to play. Beating a gig will always open at least one more gig, and usually more than one. Each gig has a handful of songs and usually an encore, and when you choose a gig you have to play through and beat all of the songs in order. You browse through ads and show flyers posted on a wall that show you your available options. This time around, the "chunks" are broken up by gigs. In previous iterations of Guitar Hero, you'd get a handful of songs at a time, be able to play them in whatever order you wanted, and then once you'd beaten them all you'd unlock the next (and more difficult) set. The game's progression has changed this year. When it starts getting packed with content, there may be organizational issues as the setup is pretty simple right now, but again, we'll have to see how that turns out as Neversoft could certainly patch and update the store as it grows. So right now, there isn't a whole lot of stuff available, and the store works fine. One TBD bit about this whole part is that since World Tour is a full band experience, content that you downloaded for GH3 won't transfer over (with the exception of Metallica's Death Magnetic). Like the Rock Band titles, Guitar Hero World Tour features a store built right into the game, allowing you to purchase new tracks without having to quit out and purchase them through the Xbox Live Marketplace or PlayStation Store. We've gotten to the point with music titles where the downloadable content winds up being just as, if not more, important than the stuff included on the disc. Is anyone failing? Please shout out if so, because we won't know otherwise. It's very cool to see that Neversoft was capable of working with the band so closely and that it was able to portray the art and mood so well. You don't even see any band members - it's just the pulsing, undulating and flowing artwork and the note highways. The songs are originally played in a Tool-specific venue that blends art and content from some of the band's more recent album work and videos. Fans of the band (including myself) are obviously pleased by this, but what's really worth noting here is that Neversoft worked with the band to create something unique and different than the other content from the game. One pretty interesting bit about the track listing is that Activision and Neversoft managed to sign on Tool to contribute three songs. There are even a couple surprises on there, such as Willie Nelson's live rendition of "On the Road Again", which actually turned out to be one of the most fun tracks on the disc. From Van Halen to Jimi Hendrix to Joe Satriani to Tool, the lineup of included tracks is mighty impressive. If you've been following the game's progress, you'll already know how impressive the set list is. And yes, I'm talking about last year's game, and not even Rock Band 2.Ĭlick the image above to check out this video. However, as much as it's tried, Neversoft hasn't been able to catch up to Rock Band quite yet. This scenario clearly sounds an awful lot like Rock Band, and in some ways the game is extremely similar to Harmonix's band simulator. For the first time in the series, the game will offer fans the ability to play the drums and sing as well as rock out on the guitar and bass. This time the often-changing lineup of players includes Robert Smith (Voice & Guitars), Simon Gallup (Bass), Jason Cooper (Drums), Roger O’donnell (Keyboards, former David Bowie Tin Machine guitar hero Reeves Gabrels and Perry Bamonte (Guitar & Keyboards). And now we have the "true" sequel to Guitar Hero III with Guitar Hero World Tour. This has made the band a consistent concert draw for all ages of fans who love to hear how it will be arranging classics such as In A Forest, Jumping Someone Else’s Train, Fascination Street and other singles alongside deeper album cuts. Lead by plaintive vocalist and killer guitarist and songwriter Robert Smith, the band has released 13 studio albums to date, some of them becoming essential listening for the eighties, nineties and naughts. The Cure have been giving generations of goths a reason to be cheerful since playing its first show in 1978. Atoms are indivisible they are the elementary grains of reality, which cannot be further subdivided, and everything is made of them. ‘Sweetness is opinion, bitterness is opinion heat, cold and colour are opinion: in reality only atoms, and vacuum,’ said Democritus. They have no weight, no colour, no taste. Atoms have no qualities at all, apart from their shape. Space is without limits it has neither an above nor a below it is without a centre or a boundary. The idea of Democritus’s system is extremely simple: the entire universe is made up of a boundless space in which innumerable atoms run. Leucippus and Democritus came up with this idea. An idea was needed, a great idea, a grand vision, to grasp the hidden order of the world. It was a first germ of physics, rough and elementary, but in the right direction. Anaximenes of Miletus had imagined this substance could compress and rarefy, thus transforming from one to another of the elements from which the world is constituted. They had conceived of a kind of elementary substance from which everything was made. They had become convinced that the variety of natural phenomena must be attributable to something simple, and had tried to understand what this something might be. What Leucippus and Democritus had understood was that the world can be comprehended using reason. ‘Who is there whom we can compare with him for the greatness, not merely of his genius, but also of his spirit?’ asks Cicero. ‘The most subtle of the Ancients,’ Seneca called him. Democritus, the great pupil who wrote dozens of works on every field of knowledge, was deeply venerated in antiquity, which was familiar with these works. Together, these two thinkers have built the majestic cathedral of ancient atomism. On his arrival in Abdera, Leucippus founded a scientific and philosophical school, to which he soon affiliated a young disciple, Democritus, who cast a long shadow over the thought of all subsequent times. He wrote the book The Great Cosmology, in which he advanced new ideas about the transient and permanent aspects of the world. The traveller’s name was Leucippus little is known about his life, but his intellectual spirit proved indelible. It was to be a crucial journey for the history of knowledge. While the historical persons and dates behind these experiments can be quite interesting, it is most important to understand the concepts resulting from their work.According to tradition, in the year 450 BCE, a man embarked on a 400-mile sea voyage from Miletus in Anatolia to Abdera in Thrace, fleeing a prosperous Greek city that was suddenly caught up in political turmoil. Here, we will discuss some of those key developments, with an emphasis on application of the scientific method, as well as understanding how the experimental evidence was analyzed. Much of this came from the results of several seminal experiments that revealed the details of the internal structure of atoms. In the two centuries since Dalton developed his ideas, scientists have made significant progress in furthering our understanding of atomic theory. And if atoms are neither created nor destroyed during a chemical change, then the total mass of matter present when matter changes from one type to another will remain constant (the law of conservation of matter). For example, if an element such as copper consists of only one kind of atom, then it cannot be broken down into simpler substances, that is, into substances composed of fewer types of atoms. (credit copper: modification of work by ).ĭalton’s atomic theory provides a microscopic explanation of the many macroscopic properties of matter that you’ve learned about. \): When the elements copper (a shiny, red-brown solid, shown here as brown spheres) and oxygen (a clear and colorless gas, shown here as red spheres) react, their atoms rearrange to form a compound containing copper and oxygen (a powdery, black solid). |
